What is SnailDrop?
SnailDrop is the fastest, simplest way to share text, code snippets, notes, and files across multiple devices or with other people. There are no accounts to create, no email verifications, and no friction. Just paste your content, choose an ID, and pick it up anywhere else.
How to Use SnailDrop
- Create: Click the "Create" button or navigate to the creation page.
- Drop your content: Paste your text or upload your files (up to 5MB each).
- Assign an ID: Give your drop a unique, memorable ID (e.g.,
meeting-notes-today). - Retrieve: Go to SnailDrop on any other device, type the exact same ID into the search bar, and instantly access your content.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to sign up?
No. SnailDrop is completely account-free. You just create a drop and access it with its unique ID.
How secure are my drops?
By default, drops are public to anyone who knows or guesses the exact ID. However, you can add an optional View Password to encrypt your content, meaning nobody can see it without the password.
Can others edit my drop?
If you don't set an Edit Password, anyone with the ID can modify or delete your drop. We strongly recommend setting an Edit Password if you intend to keep the drop active for a long time.
How long do drops stay on the server?
When creating a drop, you can choose an auto-delete expiry time ranging from 5 minutes to 1 month. If you choose "Until manually deleted", the drop will stay on our servers until you choose to delete it.
What happens if an ID is already taken?
Because IDs are unique across the platform, you won't be able to use an ID that is currently in use. Simply pick another unique name or add some numbers to it.
